BOZAR - Palais des Beaux - Arts

The Bozar, extraordinary artwork created by the Belgian architect Victor Horta (1861-1947). Brugge Museum

The Historical Museums (Bruggemuseum) is the collective name for 11 historical top-sites, each one of them an impressive building with ditto collection. Between 2004 and 2010 they shall all be re-fitted and re-arranged so as to tell Bruges’ history from a different perspective and with a different theme. That way, Bruges Museum aims to become the city’s history museum par excellence.

Design Museum Gent

The Design museum Gent is a cultural institution of the City of Gent. Since January 1999 the museum has been recognized by the Ministry of the Flemish Community in the highest category. Next to the important financing by the city of Gent, other resources are subsidies by Ministry of the Flemish Community and the Province of East-Flanders.

Groeninge Museum

From 01.06.2011 the permanent collection will be  accessible, showing a rich and fascinating array of artworks from the southern Netherlands (Belgium) over a period of six centuries. Highlights include the world-famous collection of works by the Flemish Primitives, paintings by various Renaissance and Baroque masters, several interesting pieces from the Neo-classical and Realistic periods of the 18th and 19th centuries, milestones from the Symbolist and Modernist movements, masterpieces by the Flemish Expressionists and a varied selection of Post-1945 modern art.

Koninklijk Museum - Musée royal des Beaux-Arts

Koninklijk Museum has closed its doors until 2017 for substantial renovations, has given some 100 genre scenes on loan.

The collections of the Royal Museum comprise unique paintings by Flemish Primitives such as Jan van Eyck and Hans Memling as well as the work of Quinten Metsijs, the founder of the Antwerp Art School. The finest paintings by Peter Paul Rubens, Anthony Van Dyck and Jacob Jordaens are major players in this intriguing story that doesn’t end with the Old Masters, but continues into the nineteenth century with Salon artists and modernists like James Ensor and Rik Wouters. National art is exhibited next to and in confrontation with work by artists from abroad such as Jean Fouquet, Titian, Frans Hals, Auguste Rodin and Amedeo Modigliani.

M HKA - Museum van Hedendaagse Kunst Antwerpen

For forty years, Antwerp had been dreaming of a museum for modern/contemporary art before the MuHKA finally opened its doors.The MuHKA considers its task of collecting to consist of the responsibility of acquiring, researching, administering and opening to the public of works of art in public property. The basis of its collection is the Foundation Gordon Matta-Clark which dated back from the times of the ICC. Other important additional funds are the works it has acquired by itself and the works on permanent loan from the Flemish Community.

MSK - Museum voor Schone Kunsten

The Ghent museum, a creation of architect Charles Van Rysselberghe, the brother of artist Theo, became internationally renowned as an example of museum architecture. Upon its reopening, visitors to the museum will rediscover it in all its former glory, because both the interior and the exterior of the building have been thoroughly cleaned and restored. New features of the museum include a permanent print gallery, new indoor patios, a library, a brasserie and an auditorium. From now on all exhibition rooms and service points are easily accessible by stairs and lifts.

Founded two centuries ago, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium hold some twenty thousand paintings, sculptures and drawings. Located in Brussels, they consist of the Ancient Art Museum (XV - XVII century), the Modern Art Museum (XIX ­ XX century), the Wiertz Museum and the Meunier Museum.

Musee Magritte

The Musée Magritte Museum is located at the Place Royale, in the very heart of Brussels. The museum displays the works of the surrealist artist, which belong to the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium and which are mainly the result of purchases as well as of the legacies Irène Hamoir-Scutenaire and Georgette Magritte. Many private collectors, as well as public and private institutions have contributed to the Musée Magritte Museum project by lending their masterpieces. This multidisciplinary collection is the richest in the world. It contains more than 200 works consisting of oils on canvas, gouaches, drawings, sculptures and painted objects as well as advertising posters, music scores, vintage photographs and films produced by Magritte himself.
